Blend Apparel's Charitable Giving Philosophy
At Blend Apparel, we work every day following what we call the "good, better, best" approach to business. In doing so, we constantly evaluate our business practices in an effort to ensure as best possible that we have as little negative impact and as much positive impact on issues such as climate change, labor rights and the globalization of business. Whether that means exploring new and more environmentally friendly production or shipping methods, or simply turning-off our computers before finishing a day of work, it all plays a part. And, it all adds-up.
This philosophy carries over into our selection of recipients of our charitable giving. In selecting an organization to support, we try to find those that also follow a "good, better, best" philosophy. Our goal is to pick organziations that focus on the issues we hold dear, and to support them as best we can. Though Blend is young in age (born on Earth Day 2007), we felt good habits should start early. To that end, Blend Apparel is currently donating more than 1% (we call it 1%+) of its gross revenues to charity. This is our world -- it's Wear We Live. Thank you for helping us make it a better place!
THE PACHAMAMA ALLIANCE
The Pachamama Alliance is a U.S. based not-for-profit organization that was born out of a relationship developed between a group of people from the modern world and the leaders of remote indigenous groups in the Amazon region of Ecuador. More directly, it is a partnership with the Achuar, Shuar, Shiwiar and Zapara people of the southern Amazon region in Ecuador and the Achuar of the northern Amazon region of Peru. The relationship was actually initiated by the indigenous elders and shamans themselves who, out of their deep concern for the growing threat to their ancient way of life, and their recognition that the roots of this threat lay far beyond their rainforest home, actively sought the partnership of committed individuals living in the modern world.
